The foot is a highly complex structure consisting of dozens of bones and joints and more than a hundred muscles, tendons, and ligaments. The ankle connects the foot to the tibia and fibula bones of the lower leg. Between the two, the foot and ankle are responsible for bearing your entire body weight. They also allow you to stand, walk or run, and can move and flex in a large variety of ways.
When the foot, ankle or lower leg is injured, it often requires highly specialized treatment.
